SITUATION: I’m considering implementing a training program. I’m looking for any suggestions or recommendations to help get me started. Can you help?
SITUATION REVIEW: The quality of services that your team provides to salon or spa customers is critical to the success of your business. With that being said, there is one thing that every salon or spa needs: it’s a training program. Training your staff helps your business grow; it allows for you to keep up with the industry and keeps your customers satisfied.
SOLUTION: Training programs can be as unique as your individual salon/spa culture. A successful training program supports the development of new team members, as well as, senior members.
To get started:
Take Inventory - a great place to begin is to review your current education process. What types of training are you currently offering?
Identify Your Resources – who will be facilitating your training? Is there someone on your current team that can facilitate training or will you need to reach out to your product distributor or manufacturers for support?
Create A Training Strategy - divide your team into levels or categories. For example: Level 1, 2, 3 or Junior, Senior, Advanced.
Identify Training Agendas – what will you teach? Policy and procedures, customer service, cutting skills, coloring skills, special occasion, are all possible topics.
Make A Training Schedule - identify the frequency of your training? For example:
GROWTH OPPORTUNITY: Creating a training program for your technical team as well as your front desk team is a simple but effective way to continue to grow your business, keep staff motivated, and ensure the quality of work or service meets the needs & wants of your customers for years to come.
