How To Find Work-Life Balance As A Beauty Professional

In your first few years of working, it can be difficult to find a balance between work and personal time. Who knew when you made the decision to start your new career in the beauty industry you would be faced with a juggling act? Trying to juggle building a new clientele, getting acclimated to your new salon/spa, and mastering all of those “other” skillsets that a professional must execute. One can easily find themselves trying to create a balancing act between your professional life, family, personal relationships and how about time for yourself.

Trust me creating a balance between these key areas can be very challenging and overwhelming. The truth of the matter is, when our life is out of balance, stress levels are likely to soar and finding a balance is critical to one’s success and health.

What’s a new professional to do?

Schedule You Time– It might seem to go against your drive, but you need to schedule personal time. Personal time can help you relax, recharge, and focus. Make certain you schedule a few minutes out of your day to take a lunch break to refuel. Get out of the salon/spa and take a walk, breath-in some fresh air and get your body moving. And on your day’s off, avoid providing services for your friends and family. Your day off is your day off!

Prioritize- Let’s face it! We are human, we can’t do it all. As much as we like to think we are “superheroes” we’re not! Manage your time and prioritize. I find creating a to-do list always helps me keep on track. Yes, I even place time for my family and friends on my to-do list.

Avoid Procrastination- This is a big one! We are all guilty of procrastinating. Did you know most of our stress comes from us putting off what can and should do today? If something needs to be accomplished tackle the big tasks first and save the smaller items for later.

The key word here is BALANCE and maintain a happy healthy balance between all of life’s demands can minimize your stress levels and can help you achieve greater levels of success.
