Monday night, Margaret Vinci Heldt, the Chicago based hairdresser who is credited for inventing the Beehive passed away at the age of 98, the cause of death was heart failure.
The famous 1960s style that Margaret famously created is accomplished by backcombing the hair and setting it with hairspray. Throughout the years, the trend has become iconic with everyone from your grandmother to Amy Winehouse has wearing it.

In an interview with the Daily Mail in 2014, she said of the style, It stayed in good. You could recomb the style and it would come right back. I used to tell my clients: "I don't care what your husband does from the neck down, but I don't want him to touch you from the neck up."
The look revolutionized the way women wore their hair at a time when the beauty industry was booming, and over the years has been recreated in many shapes and forms.
RIP Margaret, thank you for all the glorious years of unstoppable hair.
