Shearious Question: How Do I Show Them I Care?


SITUATION:  I’m looking for ways to show appreciation and gratitude to my awesome clients for years of business.  The problem is I am on a limited budget. Any ideas?  

SITUATION REVIEW:   Customers are the lifeline of the salon and spa.  Let’s face it clients are so much more to us than dollars and cents.  Showing and expressing your sincere gratitude for being your customer is a critical step in building long-term relations and continued customer loyalty. 

SOLUTION:  The great thing about customer appreciation is it can take many forms and there are many simple and inexpensive ways to help show our appreciation.

Personally Thank Them - One of the easiest ways to express your appreciation is to thank them personally.  Send out a special thank you card with a personal note outlining why they are such great customers.  Remember, a thank you goes a long way!

Take a Personal Interest - Nothing says you care more than remembering personal details/dates.  Jot down things like birthdays, anniversaries, up and coming vacations, children’s names, etc.  Acknowledge up and coming dates in person during their next visit or send an email/ text message. 

Client Loyalty Program - Show your appreciation for their loyalty.  It doesn’t have to be a complex program.  A simple punch card for each visit, reward your loyal customers with a discount or a complimentary product.      

Giving Back - Does your customer have a favorite charity or cause?  Show your support by donating a service/product for a door prize or silent auction item.  This act of appreciation can be two-fold, you will not only be showing appreciation to your valued client, but you will be promoting yourself.

Solve Their Problems -  Understand that your customers have needs and wants, and go out of your way to help them is one sure way to show your appreciation.  Be flexible when possible to accommodate their emergency needs.     

GROWTH OPPORTUNITY:   68% of customers leave businesses because they believe the business doesn’t care about them.  It’s wonderful to do something special, however, if we make customer appreciation a consistent theme in our day-to-day business, customers will take notice.  They will feel valued, appreciated and loved all year long without us having to break the bank.
