The Summer '16 Makeup Trends Your Clients Are Loving

It's that time of year again! Summer events will have clients banging down your door for a makeover, and you need to be prepared with these summer makeup trends that will have your clients glowing! This season is about being bold, yet understated.  Most of these looks make a statement on their own without much else going on, which means quick and easy, so you can spend the rest of your time soaking up the sun. (With SPF of course!)

Glossy Nude Lips

Ok, so this is the most understated of these trends.  We are starting to see a phase out of the matte lip, maybe not forever but at least for the summer.  Nude lips are always “in”, however topping them with a gloss or simply a naked lip with Vaseline is all you need for this. They look healthy, fresh and hydrated.

Glitter

Glitter EVERYWHERE. Not all at once of course, but we are seeing glitter being used a lot this season in many applications.   Personally I am loving an eye look with no liner and just glitter on the lid. I prefer it to look a little messier and then load up the lashes with mascara or falsies.  If this doesn’t seem out of the box enough, try glitter in any place you may use highlighter.  IE On top of the cheekbones, the brow bone, cupids bow or inner corners of the eyes.

Bronze/Copper Eyes

This is one I’ve been visiting a lot recently between myself and my clients.  I am loving using bronzer on the lid in place of shadow.  It warms up the look without looking heavy. Matte or shimmer will work and you can even try layering different bronzers. Use a fluffy blending brush to apply so it’s more like a washing of color.

Colored Liner

Neutral toned eye looks have been dominating for a while, with a fear that any color on the eyes will look too dated. Colored eyeliner is bringing color back. I love using colored liquid liner layered with black or simply using the color all the way around the upper and lower lash lines.  Blue and yellow are good choices for this.

Dark Lips (Cool weird tones) Blue, green, black.

I’ve talked about dark lips before but the tones were more in the eggplant family. What we’re starting to see now is earthy cool tones like blues, greens and blacks. It may seem odd for summer, but this is a great look for someone a little more edgy. Simple face with tinted moisturizer or BB cream and a touch of bronzer on the cheeks and forehead.
