On April 22, people throughout America will be celebrating Earth Day. Earth Day celebrations provide an opportunity for you to educate your clients, market your services, and network with other professionals. Increase awareness about being mindful of ways we impact the planet and how small changes can improve a community by focusing on an Earth Day event, week or month. Highlight a service that can reinforce the "Earth Awareness" theme and then get involved with other like-minded businesses or professionals. Not sure how to celebrate? Here's how.
Implementing Eco-Friendly Practices In The Salon Or Spa
Sometimes the best place to start is with yourself, or in this case, within the salon or spa. Take this month to reflect on ways you can decrease your own carbon footprint at work and at home.
Celebrating Earth Day In Your Salon or Spa
If becoming more eco-friendly is a mission or your business, share it with your guests, especially when Earth Day is on their minds.
Consider a donation to an organization that is working toward improving our connection with the planet. Water conservation, tree planting for deforested areas, wildlife conservancy are just a few. Organize a team building "work" day for staff and get out in the community. Do a beach, river or local park clean-up, picking up trash and debris. Join a United Way project that improves the quality of life in your locale. The possibilities are endless!
Similarly, you can also offer ways for guests to take part in some feel-good earth-friendly practices. Feature an earth-friendly spa service, like an organic ingredient facial or body wrap, and donate a portion of the proceeds to your charity. It’s a win-win-win for the guest, you, and the non-profit.
Want to expand your impact? Consider collaborating for an open house with other earth-minded businesses. Host an event with a gardening center. Can the speaker talk on organic gardening or composting? What about getting a farm-to-table restaurant to supply some yummy refreshments? A giveaway at your front desk might be seed packets with every purchase.
The spa industry and saving our planet are interconnected through the goals of sustainable wellness. We can have a positive impact and inspire our guests to do the same. With a little planning and some extra thought, we can all make it a point to become more eco-friendly in our salons and spa.
